SAM

Your Association plans and hosts four events throughout the year primarily of a social nature.

1.  Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Starting in 2011, the AGM will be held the 4th Thursday of February. The 1st event of the year, the AGM is primarily a business event with a social aspect.  The afternoon meeting and evening dinner takes place in the Toronto Airport area.

2.  Semi-Annual Meeting (SAM) Weekend

Held the 2nd weekend of June (the weekend before Father's Day), SAM is one of two major Social occasions.  Taking place over Friday and Saturday nights, the SAM weekend floats between the Southern Ontario regions.

See SAM page for more details and the downloadable Registration Form.

3.  Annual MIA Mesothelioma Golf Tournament

Traditionally held the 3rd Friday of August, the Golf Tournament is a very important event supported by both MIA and Local 95 (as well as many other related trades).   Since 2009 was the last year at Kleinburg Golf Club, the Golf Committee has finalized the details for the 2010 tournament that will be held at the Nobleton Lakes Golf Club on August 20th, 2010.

The focus is to raise money for the Mesothelioma Research and Early Detection Programs at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, ON with the net revenue from golf registrations and 100% of all sponsorships and donations going to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.  Don't forget the GREAT golf, a great dinner, and the draw prizes!  [Updated September 10th, 2009]

4.  Ladies' Night

Held the 3rd Friday of November, is the final social occasion of the year and includes a dinner and dance at a luxurious downtown Toronto hotel as well as a MIA Hospitality Suite. As a special thank you to the Ladies, each Lady receives a gift personally selected by the MIA President's wife as well as a ticket for the elimination draw -- a prize of $1,000. Dress is semi-formal!

The timing of our event and the venue in downtown Toronto also provides an excellent opportunity to start your holiday shopping. The MIA negotiates a rate for not only your Friday night but also for Thursday and Saturday night so you can choose to extend your stay at the same rate.

Annual TIAC Conference

In addition to the above, MIA Active Members are eligible to participate in the Annual TIAC Conference.  For more information, please visit
